Rising up to his challenges:The travails of Corper Seyi.
"...never get intimidated by what people thinks about you"
Life for the physically challenge people in Nigeria has always being something exceptional. It is a life that pulls the break on a bubbling existence; that brings a racing athlete to standstill and reduces the energetic performer to a vegetable.
Trapped by the inability to speak or hear what people say, you see the world go around about you but you sit back and look. You curse the day you lost these abilities and leave all else to fate.
But while this is the general lot of the physically challenged persons, John Seyi Shodiya who could neither talk nor hear is reversing his fate. He gripped his predicament firmly in his hand and turned around from helplessness to remarkable success.
John Seyi Shodiya who is from Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria, has being sustaining his fate in making a better tomorrow. John who is popularly called Seyi by friends was the first child of the family of two boys and a single lady.
Seyi who was never intimidated by his inabilities attended Kwara State School For Handicapped, Ilorin, Kwara State and obtain his first school leaving certificate (SSCE) in the year 2000 and proceed to Federal College Of Education (Special) Oyo, between year 2000 to 2005 to obtain NCE in Special Education. Because of his passion for changes and education, Seyi proceeded to University of Jos and obtain B.sc (edu) in Special Education and Rehabilitation Science in year 2011/2012.
Seyi who became deaf and dump through an illness after six months he was given birth to said "I thank God for His cared for me since when am a child till now. I also appreciate my dear parent who also cares and love me so much."
What made Seyi an outstanding corper in Ogun State? Despite his challenges and educational background, Seyi who shared his personal experience in school. "I have many relationship with friends in school and home but I could not remember their names but am very greatful because they have motivated me to this level I am with the help of God."
Seyi who further explained that he like to be in peace with people around him even though he only focused on God. "I want to become a lecturer so as to impact knowledge on other people. I will want to mode lot of life in good ways but the most important thing is that let the will of God be done in my life."
There is something so special about Seyi that people don't know, he says "naturally, I want to make a great mark in Nigeria academic environment and the world at large." Seyi who claims he can perform other duties like every other person aside from talking and hearing concluded that "Nigeria is a country where we believe there is a bad leadership but I want people reading this now to know that bad follower leads to bad leaders. We need to contribute more to the development of Nigeria".
